The Beatles and Apple Corps Ltd. have officially recognized Global Beatles Day, which will be
celebrated annually on June 25th. The date honors the band's 1967 worldwide broadcast of
“All You Need Is Love,” which reached an estimated 400-million viewers.
Fans have marked the occasion unofficially since 2009, but this year will include new online
and in-person events backed by the band. To celebrate, a colorized version of the historic
performance will debut on YouTube.com for the first time.
Apple Corps CEO Tom Greene said the song’s message remains important today,
calling it a reminder of “community, connection, and the power of bringing
people together.”
