We always remember the terrible teachers ... but we also remember the special teachers. The ones that did a little more for us. The ones that stood up for us. The ones that encouraged us and always met us each day at the door with a "Good morning" and a pat on the shoulder. This was Mrs. Alice E. Wayman. She was my 7th grade study hall teacher at the brand new Meece Middle School durung the 1975/76 school year. She was my 8th grade homeroom teacher the following year. Even though I never actually had a class with her as my teacher...she helped me countless times with my homework from other classes. She was a stepping stone in helping to turn my miserable 6th grade year GPA around and to making the Meece Middle School 7th grade honor roll. She was loved by all that had the good fortune of meeting her. Her spirit lives on but her image of speed walking the downtown sidewalks and her big beautiful smile will be missed.
