OK...you know the story of our smoke detectors going off Monday night/Tuesday morning all night....and you know the story of me removing the hardwired detectors and replacing them the following day...only to have all five detectors chirp and chirp and chirp all day...all night...so yesterday...Googled what to do. Throw the breaker...unplug each detector from the ceiling....remove the battery...press the reset button for 15 seconds...return the battery...plug it up...turn the breaker on...should be the fix. The one thing that wasn't mentioned in the instructions...MAKE SURE THE 9 VOLT BATTERY IS INSERTED INTO THE DETECTOR CORRECTLY AND IN THE CORRECT POSITION. Yup...I originally put all 5 batteries in backwards, They were chirping because they were detecting the absence of a battery...and the presence of a MORON...ME! I'm sure I'll be able to laugh about this one day...but it will take a lifetime to shake the memory of the facial expressions of my family that watched the realization of my mistake blossom into a mural of stupidity. Yep....I'm something!
