Double Fatality This Morning

PRESS RELEASE

June 17, 2019

At approximately 6:30 am on Monday morning, June 17, 2019 Chief Mike Hill of the Burnside Police Department as well as Deputies of the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call of an injury automobile accident in Burnside, Kentucky.

Upon arrival at the scene in downtown Burnside, officers found two vehicles involved in a head on collision.

Preliminary investigation by Chief Hill found that Deanna Jean Chaney, age 42 of Eubank, Kentucky was southbound on Highway 27 in a silver 2007 Chrysler Van when she was struck head on by a gray 2012 Kia SUV.The Kia, operated by Brandy C. Montgomery, age 41 of Pine Knot, Kentucky was northbound on Highway 27 when it apparently crossed into the southbound lane striking the Chrysler head on.

Brandy C. Montgomery was treated at the scene and was transported to LCRH by EMS personnel.She was later transferred to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Deanna Jean Chaney was treated at the scene by EMS personnel and transported to LCRH where she was pronounced deceased by Pulaski County Deputy Coroner Gerald Collingsworth.

Mrs. Chaney's five year old granddaughter who was a passenger in the Chrysler van was treated at the scene by EMS and transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where she was later declared deceased by the Fayette County Coroner's Office.

Law enforcement units were assisted at the scene by the Burnside Fire Department, Tateville Fire Department and the Pulaski County Hazmat SRT Team.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Burnside Police Department with the assistance of the Somerset Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team.
